Export Market Development Grant

The Export Market Development Grants (EMDG) program provides grants of matched fundings to eligible Australian small and medium businesses and their representative bodies to support export market development at different points in their export journey to promote their goods or services in international markets. The goal is to help businesses grow through:

• Global Marketing and promotion
• Export Training for small and medium businesses

With support from EMDG, you can position your business for export success, whether you are just starting out or expanding to new markets. 

Grants are to support marketing and promotional activities and training that help create, develop, expand and diversify foreign markets for Australian exporters.

Tier 1 – Ready to Export to Any Market
For small and medium businesses that are new to exporting, this tier helps you take your first steps toward promoting your products or services internationally.

Tier 2 – Exporting within Existing Markets
If you’ve already begun exporting and want to increase your presence in established markets, this tier provides additional funding to strengthen your business' export journey.

Tier 3 – Exporting to New Markets
This tier is designed for businesses aiming to enter new, strategic markets. Use EMDG funding to explore new opportunities and broaden your global reach.

At NJ, we provide comprehensive support to simplify your Export Market Development Grant (EMDG) application, ensuring all eligible expenses are captured and your submission is accurate from start to finish.

Our Services Include:

1.  Initial Assessment: Our team will evaluate your eligibility for the EMDG program and will conduct an onboarding meeting with you, to prepare a budget, to plan your export activities in the next two years, and other eligibility requirements for the submission.
2.  Full Application Support: End-to-end assistance with completing your application and submit the documents to Austrade.
3.  Expert Guidance: Our team will provide tailored advice to prepare a successful grant submission and will monitor your expenditures as indicated in your planned export activities.
4.  Annual Milestone Reporting: Our team will provide ongoing management of required yearly reports.
5.  Expenditure Guidance: Clear advice on eligible costs to maximize reimbursements.
6.  Reimbursement Maximization: We can help to ensure you receive the maximum grant possible.
7.  EMDG Portal Monitoring: We can provide continuous monitoring of your application progress through the EMDG online portal.

The next round, Round 4, will cover two years 2025-26 and 2026-27. 

Applications will close when the funding has been allocated in each tier. Applications will be assessed in the order they are received.
